What happens to my SurveyGold data?
Your desktop data is yours. Always has been. You can always open SurveyGold and view everything you’ve collected. Only the online survey services end on January 1, 2027.
Can I transfer my surveys to Candor?
Yes. Your surveys and their responses can come across. It isn’t a button you press; it’s something we arrange with you.
Tell us what you’ve got before you export anything. Start the conversation, and we’ll sort out the details with you and give you a secure way to send us your files. You send them; we take it from there and tell you when your surveys are in Candor.
Exporting from SurveyGold needs an active paid subscription. If yours has expired, just tell us. We can reactivate it temporarily so you can export. You don’t need to renew.
What you’ll do in SurveyGold, once we’ve arranged it
- On the Setup Survey tab, select the survey you want to bring over.
- Lock the survey. SurveyGold requires this before exporting. You don’t need to set a password.
- Select Export from the Folder button group.
- If you want your responses to come across as well as your questions, tick “Include responses.”
- Save the file, and repeat for each survey. SurveyGold exports one file per survey.
Can I keep using SurveyGold desktop?
Yes. You can always open the SurveyGold application and view your survey data. That never goes away.
However, once your subscription expires, your account converts to a Basic subscription. On Basic, you can still open the application and view all your data, but you won’t be able to publish online surveys or export reports (like Word documents). If you need those features going forward, Candor includes them all.
What does “perpetual license” mean?
It means the SurveyGold desktop application will always open and let you view your data, even after your subscription ends. You’ll never lose access to what you’ve already collected.
What changes: without an active subscription (Standard, Premium, or Ultimate), your account reverts to Basic. You can still view everything, but features like online survey publishing and data export (Word, Excel, CSV, SPSS) require a paid subscription, which will no longer be available after November 2026.
Will I have to relearn everything?
It's designed to be simpler than SurveyGold, not more complex. The concepts are the same: create questions, share a link, see results.
What if I don’t want to switch?
That’s completely fine. SurveyGold desktop continues to work. We just can’t maintain the cloud hosting service anymore.

Does Candor use AI?
Only if you turn it on. AI help is off in a new Candor account, and you can switch off any AI feature in Settings. Only one feature, Response themes, sends your respondents’ written answers to the AI. See what each AI feature does and sends.
